LA Class Procedure

1. Vocabulary Warm-up

Purpose: To engage students as soon as they enter the classroom, this segment helps activate prior knowledge and prepares them for the lesson ahead. Warming up with vocabulary not only refreshes students' memories but also creates a focused classroom environment.

2. Vocabulary Review

Purpose: The aim here is to reinforce what was learned in previous week’s homework and to ensure retention over the long term. Vocabulary review can help identify areas where the students may be struggling, giving the instructor valuable insight into where to provide extra support.

3. Spelling Test

Purpose: This segment is designed to assess the students' grasp on the spelling of new and review vocabulary words that are assigned in weekly homework. It serves as both an evaluative and a diagnostic tool. Spelling tests not only measure how well students have learned the words but can also highlight common mistakes that need to be addressed in future lessons.

4. Reading Comprehension Practice

Purpose: Reading comprehension aims to enhance students' ability to understand, interpret, and analyze text. It also improves their skills in identifying main ideas and supporting details, making inferences, summarizing, drawing conclusions, sequencing, comparing and contrasting, making predictions, understanding cause and effect, evaluating arguments and claims, interpreting figurative language, understanding vocabulary through context clues, and more. After each class, students can access detailed explanations of the questions they got wrong during the classroom reading, as well as the knowledge points covered by each question.
